Candy Crush-ontwikkelaar King werkt aan een mobile Call of Duty game

Ontwikkelaar King heeft een immens groot succes gehad met Candy Crush. Alhoewel de game inmiddels niet meer de meest aansprekende game is op je mobiele telefoontje, heeft de ontwikkelaar dus een staat van dienst. Daarom is het niet gek te noemen dat Activision Blizzard vorig jaar besloot King over te nemen. Als je aan Activision denkt, denk je natuurlijk aan Call of Duty en daarom is het volgende ook niet zo verrassend te noemen: King werkt aan een mobile Call of Duty game.

Dit blijkt uit de website van de ontwikkelaar, waar mensen worden gezocht voor het project:

“Our challenge as a team is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile that will strive to transform the best console experience fans know and love, while breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre.”

“Our approach and ambition is to be fresh, social, and highly accessible, while providing a very authentic game experience. The team will prototype extensively, have the freedom to think outside the box, and be encouraged to stretch their expertise in ways to create surprising results.”

“We’re a lean pack of developers, designers, and artists, with a shared goal and shared understanding of what we’re striving to build: a transformative and awesome Call of Duty experience on mobile that fans will want to play for years.”

Onduidelijk is op het moment echter nog hoe de game moet gaan spelen. Wel zijn er dus een hoop ambities om Call of Duty ook mobile te laten slagen. Op dit moment zijn er al een aantal Call of Duty-games beschikbaar op iOS en Android, maar geen van allen wist ook maar in de buurt te komen van bijvoorbeeld het succes van Candy Crush.
